BIOGRAPHY After many years based in London working in music retail and distribution alongside djing at some of the the city's coolest venues and promoting live music and club nights Global Souljah was born when James moved to Barcelona to start his new life in the sun.
Since arriving in Barcelona not only has his sun tan improved but also the scope of his musical ambitions. 2010 has finally seen the arrival of Audio Texture a fresh new music consultancy business specialising in Audio Branding and Music Supervision.
Presently programming in-store music for the Coronel Tapiocca stores in Spain, Italy and Portugal the company is set to grow and be a major force for musical good in the Iberian peninsular. James has also teamed up with the world famous BBE Records to present their weekly radio show since 2007 showcasing the best in cutting edge new music whilst scouting the world for interesting global grooves as well as looking back into musical history digging out some old time musical treats. The show is now broadcast in 3 countries as well as being available on-line. It's great you should listen.
Dissatisfied with the musical diversity available in Barcelona James also set up the Contraflow and The Cosmic Jam club sessions in Barcelona which rapidly turned into the city's hottest underground club night bringing over a host of great international DJs including DJ Food, Bonobo, Drumagick, Scott Nixon, Martelo, DJ Moneyshot, Saffrolla, Zero dB, DK, 7 Samurai, Nouvelle Vague, Seiji, Dj Wrongtom and King Cannibal as well as organising The Red Bull Music Academy's best party during their residence in the city. Although the nights are presently on hold look out for more party shenanigans in the not too distant future.
Global SoulJah is also one of the rare breed of versatile djs who loves all styles of music and is equally at home playing chill out sessions through to full on festival sets across a range of styles from classic soul and jazz to global grooves via the latest electronic genre mutations preferably all in the same set. As sleep is overrated James is also an occasional Music Journalist writing record reviews for leading music websites Fly Global Music, Mundo Vibes and Right On FM.
