IMS announces his 2012's Grand Finale festival Line-Up / May 25th, Dalt Vila, Ibiza

Celebrating their fifth year in operation, team IMS are very proud to be able to unveil the full details for this year’s IMS Grand Finale Festival – an event that’s now considered the opening party for the whole season.

Set in the heart of Ibiza Town and looking over the Balearic Sea, the very special UNESCO world heritage site in Dalt Vila is a place of true beauty, made even more special when you consider that this is the only time of the year the area is used for a contemporary music event.

And what an event it promises to be… Having previously showcased acts and DJ’s such as 2manydjs, Mark Ronson, Buraka Som Sistema and Hercules & Love Affair – as well as the annual host and IMS co-founder Pete Tong – this year’s line-up once again delivers on every level.

With the aim to offer something for everyone, as well as bringing the highest caliber of artists to appeal to true dance music lovers, IMS: 2012 combines the perfect balance of heavyweight legendary names with some of the most exciting acts of today. In the “legends” corner we have two of the very best, with Pete Tong inviting his very good friend Carl Cox to the party – a man who’s done everything possible in his field. From becoming a headline act in the late 80’s for the most exciting rave’s at the time and being the first 'star' DJ of Ibiza from his early shows in San Antonio, Carl Cox has maintained his status for the past 25 years, delivering the most exhilarating techno and house music wherever he goes. An icon. A legend. And his Tuesdays at Space event is now one of the strongest on the island. He is 50 years old in 2012, and deserves the headline billing for such a special event.

Joining Pete and Carl are two of the leading lights in modern dance music, heralded for pushing the genre forward and bringing back some much-needed soul and charisma to clubs in recent years. They also both hold mythical status on the island, with Loco Dice the former Circoloco hotshot turned Cocoon hero and Seth Troxler the new king of DC-10, alongside his good friend and sometime DJ-partner Jamie Jones. With both Dice and Seth being voted in the top 10 of Resident Advisor’s annual DJ pole for the past three years running (Seth was voted #2 and Loco Dice #4 in 2011), you are guaranteed to hear the newest and finest in cutting edge club music.

Not stopping there, IMS always strives to bring forward the best live dance acts and this year is no different with the special Live Performance of Azari & III.

IBIZA MUSIC ACADEMY : Segunda edición del curso 'Electronic Live Production'

Os recordamos que el próximo miércoles 8 de febrero la IBIZA MUSIC ACADEMY imparte una nueva edición del curso ‘Electronic Live Production’ a cargo de Javier Ferrer Serra (Plugtone Records) y Lenny Ibizarre (Ibizarre Records), para así cubrir la demanda de aquellos interesados que se quedaron sin plaza en su primera edición del mes de diciembre.

Gracias al avance de la tecnología en lo que concierne a la producción musical nos es posible presentar ahora un completo curso introductorio para improvisar en vivo y en directo música electrónica a nivel profesional. Durante una semana, los estudiantes recibirán la formación práctica y teórica que demandan deejays y productores para desarrollar individualmente una producción profesional de gran calidad en directo.

El curso se llevará a cabo con computadoras Apple y Ableton live, aunque la formación será igualmente aplicable a otros secuenciadores u ordenadores disponibles en el mercado.

En el curso Electronic Live Production se aplicarán técnicas de aprendizaje innovadoras y a través de un concepto muy didáctico y plenamente interactivo para aprender sin esfuerzo el funcionamiento de la producción de música avanzada.

Javier Ferrer Serra Este joven ibicenco, propietario del sello discográfico Plugtone Records y de la empresa Ibiza Business Music que ofrece servicios de consultoría, formación y gestión de eventos, es uno de los especialistas locales en producción digital, trabajando con asiduidad para artistas y sellos nacionales e internacionales. Además, es colaborador y tester para la tienda Intermusic y componente clave en la formación Atfunk The Band. Cuando desarrolla música de baile, Javier se transforma en Jaf, el seudónimo con el que actúa en todo el territorio nacional.

Lenny Ibizarre Danés de nacimiento e ibicenco de adopción, Lenny es un artista polifacético con una trayectoria de más de 20 años componiendo, produciendo, remezclando y pinchando. Igualmente exitosa es la gestión de su propio sello discográfico, Ibizarre Records, y digno de mención, su protagonismo en el 70% de las pruebas de software de la industria tecnológica, así como en las presentaciones de éstas a lo largo y ancho del globo. Sus sesiones son ya leyenda, no sólo por su calidad musical sino por sus increíbles sets que pueden llegar a superar las seis horas de duración.

Safehouse Management is proud to annonce that 2012 will see an influx of new talent into the Safehouse management roster, with the opening of their new south american and spanish offices.

Founded in 2000 by Lynn Cosgrave, Safehouse Management has been looking after many of the worlds most well renowned DJs and artist/producers. Over the last 12 years Safehouse has continued to grow, taking on new artists and promoting events across the world, from Miami to Ibiza. Ian Hindmarsh and Lynn are no strangers having worked together previously for 15 years. The rejoining of the team enhances the strength of 'independence ' in a very corporate world.

Safehouse housed a small but elite group of DJs such as Carl Cox, John Digweed, CJ Mackintosh and Robert Clivilles to name but a few, working with them to continuously break down barriers and move dance music forward.

IBIZA MUSIC ACADEMY : distrito técnológico internacional de creación musical

Esta mañana se ha presentado en rueda de prensa la Ibiza Music Academy, un Centro Internacional en Formación e Innovación en Música Avanzada que ofrecerá cursos de formación en música electrónica durante todo el año en el Conservatori de Musica i Dansa d´Eivissa.

Creado por la Agrupación de Empresas Innovadoras Ibiza Music Cluster (de la que Ibiza Sónica es parte) los cursos pretenden generar sinergias entre la música clásica y la música avanzada además de consolidar a Ibiza como punto de referencia de creación de tendencias artístico-musicales durante todo el año.

Los cursos, impartidos por profesionales de trayectoria reconocida, se empezarán el próximo mes de Diciembre. Aquí os los desgranamos brevemente:

Electronic Live Production: De un tiempo a esta parte viene siendo habitual que tanto Dj´s como productores utilicen como recurso la improvisación en directo con laptops y secuenciadores. En el curso, impartido por Lenny ibizarre y Javier Ferrer, se enseñarán técnicas y trucos para la performance en directo de producciones de música electrónica.

Armonía para DJ´s y productores: Jacob Mariscal y Adolfo Vilallonga, dos reputados musicólogos y compositores ibicencos, impartirán este curso que fomenta la aplicación de las técnicas básicas de la armonía aplicadas a las nuevas herramientas de producción musical. Un paso más para la depuración de la técnica de los productores y dj´s electrónicos.
Apple Music Applications: Apple es, desde hace años, la empresa de hardware favorita de los productores de música electrónica. Desde las computadoras más potentes como Imac o MacBook hasta el Iphone pasando por uno de sus más innovadores productos: el Ipad.

Un clásico de la escena madrileña , Luis Cantalapiedra ( o sea Dj Muerto), demostrará como usar esta potente tablet como instrumento, controlador MIDI o secuenciador.

Síntesis Modular: La síntesis modular ya no depende de cables y sintetizadores gigantes. Gracias a softwares como Reaktor los alumnos aprenderán a sintetizar sonidos manipulando envolventes, filtros o LFO´s. Un curso que ofrece a los alumnos llegar al tuétano del sonido y conocer así el origen primitivo de las producciones.

Para quien no lo sepa, el Ibiza Music Cluster es una asociación de empresas de la industria musical de Ibiza con el objetivo de mejorar en competitividad, innovación y creatividad y la Academia es un paso adelante en pos de ese objetivo.
