RICHIE HAWTIN confirms first solo IBIZA residency with the
introduction of ENTER. at Space on Thursdays from July 5th till September 20th...
“ENTER. will be a point of entry into new experiences: from new music
and DJs through to technology and the Sake we introduce people to” Richie Hawtin
RICHIE HAWTIN has
confirmed he will launch his first solo residency on the island of Ibiza – with
the introduction of his new visionary ENTER.
concept. Hawtin will take over Thursday nights at the award-winning club Space in Playa d’en Bossa for 12
weeks,
curating four rooms built on the principles of music, sake, technology and
experience.
Hawtin and ENTER. will also collaborate with underground
night Kehakuma to form ENTER. Kehakuma on the famed Space Terrace – a night
already established as an incubator of emerging and defining electronic talent.
Hawtin has a strong history with the island of Ibiza thanks
to his long-term contribution and association with Sven Väth’s Cocoon creation
at Amnesia. Hawtin feels now is the time to make his own statement on the
island, to provide a new platform for the artists and music he supports, and to
lead Ibiza into the island’s next phase of development and innovation.
“After an incredible and life-defining relationship with Sven and the
Cocoon family on the island, I felt the time was right to develop my own vision
on what an Ibiza experience might be. Ibiza is a destination for people from
all walks of life looking to escape and celebrate. This year we will give
people an entry into a world that connects many of the things that I love:
music, technology, Japanese sake, art, entertainment and design. As Ibiza is a
crossroads of people from all over the world, ENTER. will be a crossroads of
experiences!”
Richie Hawtin
ENTER. is based
on the following principles:
MUSIC. Hawtin
will play each and every week from the center of the ENTER. experience, within an augmented version of Space’s main room
surrounded by new structural lighting installations and technologies. Hawtin
will curate the entire ENTER.
line-up featuring M-NUS artists,
friends, collaborators and like-minded individuals on each floor including ENTER. Sake and ENTER.Air (Space’s rooftop terrace). Hawtin will collaborate with
Space on the line-ups for the main Terrace now dubbed ENTER.Kehakuma – bringing his own selection of artists to an
already established hotbed of emerging electronic talent.
SAKE. ENTER.Sake
is the island’s first true Sake Bar experience - an intimate Japanese inspired
room with surprise DJ sets from major guests starting each Thursday at 10pm.
For the first time, the official pre-party is in the actual club itself.
Hawtin, himself a trained Sake sommelier and a huge fan of Japanese culture, is
personally importing the Sake from Japan, recruiting the staff and working with
renowned mixologist on the special Japanese Sake & Shochu based cocktail
menu. It has been said of Hawtin, “to truly understand this man, you need to
understand his love and obsession with Japan”.
TECHNOLOGY. Each
room within the ENTER. concept will
be touched by technology; from live Internet feeds, to visualizations of music
& sound, to the interactive installations of the transformed Sunset Terrace
– now titled, ENTER.Interakt. This
will be a new sensory experience beyond music involving cutting edge
technologies and ideas.
EXPERIENCE. “As electronic music continues to develop around the world it becomes
more important to invite people into its very core, where music, technology and
ideas interplay to create unique and wonderful new worlds. Ibiza is the perfect
place to further explore my event concepts that have been developing since the
early Warehouse parties I threw in Detroit and more recently with CONTAKT &
Plastikman Live. It is my hope that by combining many different elements
together I can heighten the experience of the audience and place a significant
memory into their subconscious. Ibiza is the perfect location for continuing
this long-term experiment and ambition of mine.”
ENTER.FACTS
ENTER. will take place every Thursday from July 5th to September 20
ENTER. will be promoted by Hawtin and his M-NUS team in collaboration with
Space.
ENTER.Sake will see the launch of the island’s first dedicated Sake bar.
ENTER.Kehakuma will see Hawtin collaborate with Space’s underground night.
Kehakuma will continue in its own right before and after ENTER.’s 12 dates.

Richie Hawtin
Loco Dice is someone, who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. There’s something there for the dreamers, as well as for the 9-to-5ers who just want to lose everything in a moment of abandon on the dancefloor.
« Every so often, a Dj or producer comes along who inspires the collective imagination »
Like Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice too will be just came back of the Time Warp festival where they will just have played the same day in the afternoon. What a life !

And the last 2 years has been crazy, the number of people coming has tripled or quadrupled and I've seen it growing. It's a mix between really good club and choice of the DJs. »
« I always love playing at Amnesia in Ibiza, it's one of the only places where I get excited about playing a long time in advance. »

Richie Hawtin returns with one of the most referenced electronic music monikers in dance music… PLASTIKMAN.
Hawtin will unleash a live electronic performance that takes his mastery of technology to the next level, incorporating state of the art visual architecture, interactive technology, and more to be revealed in this return of one of the founders of modern electronic music.
Plastikman Live will be debuted at this year’s Timewarp festival on March 27th, 2010 – the first in a series of hand-picked dates that will form the first ever Plastikman Live world tour. The new show evolves from the previous Plastikman live performance at Canada’s Mutek festival in 2004, by continuing to explore the connection between visual, audio and interactivity, and once again partnering visual architects Derivative alongside visual designer Ali Demirel. Building upon everything learned from the Hawtin/Demirel Timewarp shows of 2005-2007 and 2008’s Contakt multimedia events, Plastikman Live condenses all of these elements into a new highly concentrated one-hour experience.
Reinterpreting the 18 year history of Hawtin’s Plastikman material, Plastikman Live moves from the acidic atmospheres of ‘Sheet One’ to the disorienting funk of ‘Musik’, to the nostalgic moments of ‘Artifakts’, through the depths of ‘Consumed’ and into the darkness of ‘Closer’; everything re-imagined through the capabilities of modern technology.Recapturing the spirit of the early Plastikman albums and parties in Detroit, Plastikman Live is a fusion of the past and future, the visual and audible, between performer and audience, of expectations and anticipation; creating the ultimate Plastikman experience.
“It has always fascinated me how sound, lighting, visuals and human interactivity define and deepen a concert experience By focusing on my own unique Plastikman sound I hope to find new freedom and explore the extremes of where these elements converge, challenging our senses, stimulating our memories, and creating an experience of physical and mental intensity that can be only Plastikman.” – Richie Hawtin, January 2010
