El Festival de la Grand Finale del IMS regresa a la icónica Dalt Vila por tercer año para presentar el evento más grande hasta la fecha. En el corazón de Ibiza Ciudad y con vistas al Mar Mediterráneo, esta zona de Dalt Vila declarada Patrimonio Histórico de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, es sin lugar a dudas uno de los mejores lugares al aire libre del mundo – y éste es el único evento de música contemporánea que se celebra allí cada año.
Subiendo el listón después del inolvidable espectáculo del año pasado que presentó actuaciones de Buraka Som Sistema, Mark Ronson, Sasha, Skream, David E Sugar y el co-fundador del IMS, Pete Tong, el equipo del IMS acaba de confirmar la programación para el 2011 y una vez más promete ser muy interesante.
En el año en que Pete Tong celebra 20 años como locutor de Radio 1 de la BBC, el co-fundador del IMS una vez más encabezará las celebraciones del IMS, a quien se le unirá no menos que los todopoderosos 2manydjs – todavía considerados como unos de los mejores DJs del planeta. Después de haber reescrito el libro de reglas de las mezclas de DJ, sido pioneros del arte de los mush-up remixes y conquistado el mundo con su banda de cuatro miembros Soulwax, hay poco que estos dos hermanos belgas no hayan logrado conquistar. 2manydjs encabezarán la cartelera este año prometiendo convertirse en el gran evento del año.
Sin detenernos aquí, también presentamos a uno de los favoritos de Ibiza – y gran estrella del techno por derecho propio – Dubfire, que hará su debut en el IMS. Un hombre que originalmente aterrizó en la isla a principios de los años 90 como mitad del dúo ganador de un Grammy, Deep Dish, pero recientemente ha desarrollado su carrera en solitario que le ha llevado a unas alturas aún más vertiginosas. Sin duda, será un gran atractivo para cualquier fan del techno que se encuentre en Ibiza esa semana. Para dar más forma a esa programación tenemos a un favorito del IMS, Jason Bently, el locutor del show de radio más influyente de los EE.UU. (Morning Becomes Eclectic en KCRW) y ganador del primer premio del IMS Pioneer. Un nombre clave en la escena dance de los EE.UU. desde hace muchos años, además es el responsable de numerosas bandas sonoras de películas, incluyendo las tres secuelas de Matrix, y se le acredita orquestar la asociación entre Daft Punk y la reciente película Tron - ¡además de ser un magnífico DJ!
Encabezando la programación de actuaciones en directo esa noche estará lo mejorcito de Nueva York, Hercules & Love Affair, que recientemente ha publicado su álbum ‘Blue Songs’ para el deleite de los medios y de una creciente base de admiradores. Consiguiendo canalizar el espíritu (y sonidos) del famoso Paradise Garage, combinan una actitud clásica del disco de NYC con house moderno y lo mejorcito del pop electrónico. A ellos se les unirá The Japanese Popstars, que tocarán su estilo híbrido de electro ante el público ibicenco que ya les ha mostrado su gran admiración en sus anteriores actuaciones en Wonderland y Amnesia. Su álbum de Positiva/EMI contiene algunas colaboraciones increíbles, así que esperad invitados especiales que se les unirán en el escenario del IMS.
Después de haberse inaugurado en el 2008 ante gran expectación de la comunidad de música electrónica, el IMS ha se ha superado durante los 3 últimos años proporcionando a Ibiza una magnífica conferencia anual que atrae a los líderes de la industria de todo el mundo, y además con un evento que realmente marca el comienzo de la temporada de verano – El Festival de la Grand Finale del IMS. El 2011 promete no ser lo mismo.
El IMS ha sido descrito como “el equivalente electrónico del TED – un centro de reunión para los profesionales líderes de la música dance”.

Building on last year’s unforgettable show that featured performances from Buraka Som Sistema, Mark Ronson, Sasha, Skream, David E Sugar and IMS co-founder Pete Tong, the IMS team have now confirmed the lineup for 2011 and once again it’s tantalizing prospect.
In the year that Pete Tong celebrates 20 years on BBC Radio 1, the co-founder of IMS will once again be spearheading the IMS celebrations and joined by none more exciting than the mighty 2manydjs – still regarded by many as the greatest DJs on the planet. Having re-written the rulebook of DJ mixes, pioneered the art of the mash-up remix, and conquered the world as their 4-piece band Soulwax, there’s little the two Belgian brothers haven’t achieved. They will be the headline act this year and it promises to be one hell of a show!
Not stopping there we also have Ibiza favourite – and huge techno star in his own right – Dubfire, who will be making his IMS debut. A man who originally touched down on the island in the early 90’s as one half of the Grammy award winning duo Deep Dish, but in more recent years has developed a solo career that has taken him to even dizzier heights. Without doubt he will be a huge draw to any techno fans that are in Ibiza that week. Rounding off the line-up we have IMS favourite Jason Bentley, the host of America’s most influential radio show (Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW) and the winner of the first ever IMS Pioneer award. A key name in the U.S. dance scene for many years, he is also the man behind countless movie soundtracks, including all three Matrix films, and is credited for orchestrating the partnership between Daft Punk and the recent Tron movie – he’s also an amazing DJ!
The headline live act on the night will be New York’s finest, Hercules & Love Affair, who recently released their ‘Blue Songs’ album to the delight of both the media and their ever-growing fan base. Managing to channel the spirit (and sounds) of the famous Paradise Garage, they combine both classic NYC disco attitude with modern house and electronic pop at it’s very best. They will be joined on the bill by The Japanese Popstars, who will be performing their hybrid style of live electro to an Ibiza crowd that has already shown them a lot of love from their previous shows at Wonderland and Amnesia. Their Positiva/EMI album contains some incredible collaborations, expect special guests to be joining them on stage at IMS!
Having launched in 2008 to much anticipation from the electronic music community, the IMS has gone above and beyond over the past 3 years delivering on providing Ibiza with both an annual conference that attracts industry leaders from across the globe, but also an event to truly kick start the summer season – The IMS Grand Finale Festival. 2011 promises to be no different.
The IMS has been heralded as “electronic’s equivalent to TED – a hub for the world’s leading professionals in dance music”.
