Newcomers in SAFEHOUSE MANAGEMENT

Safehouse Management is proud to annonce that 2012 will see an influx of new talent into the Safehouse management roster, with the opening of their new south american and spanish offices.

Founded in 2000 by Lynn Cosgrave, Safehouse Management has been looking after many of the worlds most well renowned DJs and artist/producers. Over the last 12 years Safehouse has continued to grow, taking on new artists and promoting events across the world, from Miami to Ibiza. Ian Hindmarsh and Lynn are no strangers having worked together previously for 15 years. The rejoining of the team enhances the strength of 'independence ' in a very corporate world.

Safehouse housed a small but elite group of DJs such as Carl Cox, John Digweed, CJ Mackintosh and Robert Clivilles to name but a few, working with them to continuously break down barriers and move dance music forward.

We are excited to welcome a diverse and talented pool of DJs into the Safehouse family. New artists include Charlie Hedges, Guy J and Umek, returning to the fold are John Digweed and Michel de Hey, they will be joining Carl Cox, Yousef, Cristian Varela & Jon Rundell.

Cocoon Artist Booking introduces a new interview & podcast series called "In The Spotlight": Every month we have a little chit-chat with an artist from our booking roster who adds an exclusive mix on top. Listen this exclusive monthly radio show every last monday of the month from 00H00 to 01H00 on Radio Amnesia and Ibiza Sonica.

Tonight, we start the series with a focus on Ingo Boss :

The year 2011 has just come to an end. How was it for you, were there any special moments that are stuck in your memory?

Well, I perceived 2011 being rather turbulent, steady ups and downs with special highs and lows. My highlights were the nice gigs in Leeds, Sevilla and my annual birthday party at the Cocoon Club Lounge, just to mention a few. Besides that, I started my own net label EUREKA, which saw five releases until the end of last year. This is my platform to let out everything, all the genres that are moving me. That's also the reason why I decided to release my second album on my own label.

Another highlight for me is the annual Green & Blue open air. It's so much fun for me to work in the production team for several days, only to see and experience the fun everybody has on Sunday. That is really making me happy!

You already mentioned your label EUREKA – what can we expect in 2012?

For the beginning of February, I have my new album "Same Mind" in the pipeline, the exact release date being the 6th February. Besides that, there is the "Freakshow EP" with a very weird Neil Landstrumm remix of which I'm very proud. Neil has created something that sounds a lot like the Sativae, Scandinavia and Tresor tracks from 1997-1998, legendary! Apart from that, the first half of the year is already scheduled, more or less. Let yourself be surprised. At least, the label's motto is "expect the unexpected"!

What inspired you to release your album on EUREKA?

Like with my first album, my main aim is always to create electronic soundscapes with the related arcs of suspense. It's more something to listen to at a comfy after hour. There are no pure club tracks on it, that's what I rather do on my 12"es and remixes. Here, I can fully commit myself to the comfortable musical atmosphere. My two albums are more like the "Little Eternity" track that was released on Cocoon Recordings in 2003.

Are there any remixes of the album tracks planned?

Yes, there are two remix EPs scheduled. I already received the remixes by Johannes Heil and Mark Reeve. Junyamabe (the winner of Cocoon Recordings' Japan producer contest last year) is also doing a remix. I liked his track on "Dots & Pearls" so much that I have asked him straightforward. Also, Dr. Shingo from Tokyo is doing one, plus some more 'well-known artists'. I don't want to tell more here. These reworks will partly represent the club mixes of the album, but there are also planned some mixes for listening.

You are playing at ageHa in Tokyo on the 25th February, and this is not your first time. How do you perceive Japan and its Techno scene?

I have played in Tokyo for the first time in 2005, that was at ageHa, at its 3rd anniversary party. Man, I was nervous, I can tell you. And I was all the more happier that the club was really burning and the guests were totally excited about my DJ set. For me, this is one of the best sound systems worldwide, absolutely worth seeing and hearing! AgeHa means butterfly in English, which is perfectly matching the metamorphosis of the chrysalis in the cocoon. I'm very glad to be back this year, even if the pictures of last year's catastrophe are still in my head. Let's hope the best for Japan!

The Tokyo scene is well positioned for more than 20 years now. I also played two times at Womb and in other locations. The Japanese are big fans of technology, you can see and hear that everywhere. Everything is on a high technological level and designed with very much love. The cordiality and friendliness of all the people speaks for itself, whether it's the clubbers, the staff or the promoters, who literally do everything to make us artists feel comfortable there. La intención es lograr el desarrollo profesional de los participantes inspirándose en los conocimientos y contactos de 5 personalidades ejemplares dentro del negocio musical. La selección de los participantes cuyo perfil esté entre Dj´s, productores, editores, managers, promotores, periodistas, etc, se realizará por una parte entre una selección de los candidatos de la isla para promover el desarrollo local y por otro lado de una selección internacional para potenciar el carácter internacional de Ibiza.

The event and its networking opportunities will take place on a rotational basis during the day of March 2^nd at Ibiza’s emblematic Ocean Drive hotel, with each one on one session lasting 15minutes. Organisers of the event are also opening the doors of the Hotel to the cast of Ibiza’s own electronic music industry, providing even more opportunity for the candidates involved to up their game in the networking department.

Con una contribución a la escena electrónica en la última década que va más allá de un par de albumes y colaboraciones, dj Ino imprime un estilo impecable a la hora de mezclar discos, participando en clubs y festivales de prestigio. Personaje respetado en el mundo clubbing y mago de las mezclas imposibles...

Durante los 90, inaugura su primer club “House Café” (1997-2006)estableciendo el comienzo de una era de música House en la ciudad. A principios de siglo Ino se implica de lleno en la rehabilitación de “Telefunken (2000-2010)”, un pequeño local con una banda sonora cuidada al detalle, que ha apostado en sus casi once años de vida por gran mayoría de artistas nacionales, además de contar habitualmente con un selecto grupo de djs internacionales.

Parte fundamental del colectivo Funky Soul Rebels con base en NYC y con los que edita la primera referencia de su propio sello. Ha sido remezclado por Charles Webster, Vincenzo y Motorcitysoul en su primer LP titulado 981 North, y ha editado en sellos como Seasons Recordings (USA), Release Music (GER), Café Del Mar, Boavista Music, Justified Cause (ES), y Objektivity (USA).

En el año 2002, Ino crea el sello House Café Music como plataforma para editar sus propios trabajos de studio a la vez que tracks de artistas internacionales de reconocido prestigio.

Con el paso de los años, el sello se ha convertido en una referencia del Deep House en España, siendo seleccionado en varias ocasiones como sello revelación.

Su trabajo ha sido reconocido por la crítica y prensa especializada, recibiendo diferentes nominaciones comoo Mejor Dj House y Deep House, Mejor Remix porTake Control feat. Mc Johnny Def /(Garcynoise Remix) en 2007 durante los premios Deejaymag y DJ1.

La primera edición de Sonar Galicia (Junio 2010) quedará marcada con letras de oro para el clubbing gallego, y en especial para Ino, ya que vió recompensado un trabajo de tantos años apoyando la escena y llevando el nombre de la ciudad de La Coruña allá por donde va, con la invitación de actuar entre los dos cabezas de cartel: Laurent Garnier y Matthew Herbert. Con un horario perfecto y entre su propio público, Ino realizó uno de los mejores sets que se recuerdan en esta primera edición, recibiendo grandes elogios por parte del público y prensa.

Teníamos en mente escribir un post sobre los mejores lugares donde celebrar el Año Nuevo en el mundo y después de investigar un poco, es obvio….Este año, hay UNA ciudad donde celebrar el 1 de Enero.

Una ciudad que congregará a los mejores dj´s del mundo para empezar el 2012 por todo lo alto: ¡Madrid!

3 eventos de repercusión global con espectaculares line-ups. Así que podemos proclamar sin duda que el 1 de Enero Madrid es el lugar idóneo para que los amantes de la música electrónica entren en el nuevo año.

Desayunamos a las 8 de la mañana con la segunda edición de DAY ONE MADRID festival en el palacio de Vistalegre. Después del éxito del pasado año, DAY ONE vuelve en 2012 con un cartel tanto o más espectacular que el del año anterior, haciendo de este día el más especial del año gracias a la pedazo de alineación de dj´s:

Cuatro manos para dos platos…casi un clásico del género…Loco Dice y Marco Carola compartirán cabeza de cartel en un set exclusivo de 4 horitas…Un duelo que se prevée muy igualado. Además de ellos, el gran Richie Hawtin también se suma a la fiesta, junto a Luciano, Paco Osuna, Tini, Vitalic, Mar-T…casi casi como estar en Amnesia un dia de verano en Ibiza.

Punto y final, campana y se acabó, finiquitando que es gerundio… el apocalipsis está a la vuelta de la esquina, y nosotros aquí, tan tranquilos, preocupados y enzarzados en estériles elecciones parlamentarias, malignas primas de riesgo y nimiedades que se olvidarán rápidamente en cuanto el azote de los dioses caiga sobre nosotros.

Pero oigan, como bien decían los R.E.M., “es el fin del mundo conocido, y me siento debutis”. Que si se acaba el mundo, pues que nos coja bailando y echando unas risas. A nosotros nadie nos va a amargar el año nuevo, y menos aún con un detalle tan tonto y tan prescindible como es el fin del mundo.

Mientras el negro cielo se abra, iracundo y rabioso, los edificios se desplomen y nuestra vana esperanza de supervivencia se derrumbe cual castillo de naipes, Goa Electronic Parties estará celebrando la llegada de un nuevo año con una fiesta que durará la friolera de 15 horas: desde las 12 de la mañana del día 1 hasta las 3 de la madrugada del día siguiente. Suficiente tiempo para olvidar, ni que sea por unas horas, lo poco que nos queda a los humanos en esta bonita galaxia.

Y qué mejor manera de dar la bienvenida al cataclismo final que con un cartel como el que ahora mismo os vamos a explicar...

En la Main Room, como siempre y quizá por última vez (si es que los Mayas finalmente tuvieran razón), Marcos In Dub y el flamante dúo Borderline (Gerardo Niva + Álex Guerra) se verán acompañados por los beats todotechreno del veterano Technasia.

No faltará el monarca norteamericano del house más ácido, Josh Wink, ni el amigo de grandes y pequeños, el ya mítico Michael Mayer, siempre dispuesto a partir la pista con una sonrisa a cualquier hora y en cualquier lugar.

En el Upper Floor nos visitarán Anja Schneider, Rodriguez Jr, Dan Curtin, Martin Landsky y Sebastian Radlmeier, es decir, la familia Mobilee, uno de los sellos germanos de más éxito mundial (los Mayas seguramente bailarían sus temas entre sacrificio y sacrificio si hubieran llegado a conocerlos).

Y en el Crystal Club, Freerange Records (sí, la disquera más fantástica de toda Inglaterra) donde sus más gráciles espadachines –Dj Yellow, Shur-i-Kan, Pol_On y Lovebirds- nos deleitarán con su elegancia, sutilidad y savoir faire housero.

It’s been a while since the first UNDER 300 Tour in 2009, which led Loco Dice to 14 cities playing exclusive extended sets for ecstatic crowds...

In 2012, Loco Dice is coming back with a second european UNDER 300 Tour . The concept is simple – Loco Dice playing vinyl only in a small, intimate club with a capacity of 300 or less.

If you’ve seen Loco Dice perform at his ten-year-long Tribehouse residency in his hometown Düsseldorf, or at DC-10 Ibiza (from ’02-’06), you will have clicked to this. Loco Dice is someone, who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. There’s something there for the dreamers, as well as for the 9-to-5ers who just want to lose everything in a moment of abandon on the dancefloor...

The tour will be visiting 12 cities throughout January and February, with the focus this time being on those who educate and shape the taste of dance-floors around the world – the resident DJ’s in each city.

Each night of the tour the event will be hosted by a different resident DJ, Loco Dice with his bag full of vinyl is a guest – a curious one, who will not only play in a traditional way – two turntables and a mic – showing musical facets that are out of place on big stages, but who’ll also use his microphone to interview and introduce each local host, giving the world far beyond the intimacy of a club an insight into UNDER 300.

« It comes from hip-hop. Growing up, I was a huge Death Row fan. Listening to Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight. I really like the idea that they had of bringing their artists all together on one album. They did this Death Row Christmas edition, and that is where I got my idea because we have so many great tracks that we should be able to do something like this. Martin and I, we are not typically fans of various samplers. But when we decided to do this, we were like, lets do it this way and have our artists on it, and not just foreigners. We wanted to make it a present to the people at Christmas. The cover has all our faces on, we wanted to show people what the Desolat looked like, that we are not so underground, that only a name or a sound is important. It is important for the people to see who they are listening too. »

The who's who of electronic music, the state-of-the-art in video, lighting and laser technology, a magnet for techno fans from all over the world - all of this is Time Warp in Mannheim. But Time Warp is much more than just the pure combination of music and technology. It is also a joyous come-together of the international techno scene and represents a fixed meeting place for the Time Warp community that has been formed across national borders with one thing in common:

an immeasurable great love for electronic music.

Some history…

The Time Warp history began in 1994 when, on the 26th of November, the first Time Warpwas celebrated at the legendary "Walzmühle" in Ludwigshafen. This small but popular venue had a rather compact crowd of 2000 witnessing the dawn of an era. From the beginning, the idea of Timewarp has been to present a high-graded selection of electronic music.

Despite being 17 years old, the Time Warp message has remained the same: To create a unique atmosphere with a state-of-the art line up supported by the finest sound & light equipment in the business.

For this new edition, Time WARP presents a huge line-up, like usual…

In 1995 Time Warp moved to the familiar "Maimarkthalle" in Mannheim and saw the first appearance of Sven Väth. Because of the terrific line up incluiding Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, LFO and more, the numbers of visitors grew to 10,000.
In 2005, The festival starts to travel and took residence in Pragues for the first foreign edition. Following the the "colours of rhythm" concept the festival expanded and from now, three event-zones composed the basis of Time Warp as well as subjects like art and media.

On the live-acts side…

Henrik Schwarz is one of the most versatile artists in electronic music. For years, the Berlin producer has been one of the most innovative house producers worldwide and only recently he broke new ground musically by rewriting a few of his pieces for classical orchestras. At the same time, let’s not forget that it has not even been a year since Henrik celebrated the world premiere of his techno live-act at the Time Warp Mannheim!

With his new remake of classical Detroit techno he raised a storm of enthusiasm from the audience. The GOA Electronic Parties resident just been voted 4th better 2011 Live-act in the Resident Advisor rating.

Underworld is one of the most legendary duos in history of electronic music celebrates their Time Warp premiere! With Trainspotting and “Born Slippy NUXX” Karl Hyde and Rick Smith attracted the attention of the world’s media in 1996. Typically British drum patterns melt seamlessly into euphoric melody parts accompanied by Karl's characteristic vocal shouts – Underworld are certainly a band that you just MUST have seen live! Even after three decades on stage and nine studio albums they still belong to the top headliners in the genre of electronic music. Every year millions of fans around the globe celebrate their shows enthusiastically.

Paris – the city of love, the birthplace of Haute Cuisine and the home of Paul Ritch! The latter is especially appreciated in France as well as the rest of the world for his excellent productions and remixes. “Samba” was the name of the French man’s debut on Reposal and instantly made its way into the record boxes of renowned DJs like Richie Hawtin or Dubfire. Straight minimal techno with a forward drive – this is Paul Ritch’s secret recipe, which also well-known labels seem to savour – from Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Mathew Jonson’s Wagon Repair to Dubfire’s SCI+Tec. If your mouth is already watering at the thought of a Paul Ritch live-set, be prepared to satisfy your appetite at the Time Warp Holland 2011.

Still, Marco Niemerski does not feel like a “Dance Music Poster Boy”, as he told Resident Advisor. And he does not have to – after all, he has been one of the global players in Discohouse for a long time.
This is also his mission for the Time Warp in 's-Hertogenbosch: to be the headliner of the new Disco Floor. His exclusive live-set will surely be a worthy inauguration of the floor. So prepare to hit the dance floor!

Progressive beats complemented by sinister synth arrangements? A crossover between Techno, House and Trance? It might be difficult to describe the sound of Extrawelt but it is surely easy to dance to. The two guys from Hamburg, Wayaan and Arne, have always been known for fat prime time bangers like “Soopertrack” and sinister minimal hymns like “Dark Side of my Room” but they also don’t shy away from adventures in the remote realms of breakbeats. With this rich musical repertoire they carry us of into their own world of sounds, melodies and beats – the Extrawelt.

IBIZA MUSIC ACADEMY : distrito técnológico internacional de creación musical

Esta mañana se ha presentado en rueda de prensa la Ibiza Music Academy, un Centro Internacional en Formación e Innovación en Música Avanzada que ofrecerá cursos de formación en música electrónica durante todo el año en el Conservatori de Musica i Dansa d´Eivissa.

Creado por la Agrupación de Empresas Innovadoras Ibiza Music Cluster (de la que Ibiza Sónica es parte) los cursos pretenden generar sinergias entre la música clásica y la música avanzada además de consolidar a Ibiza como punto de referencia de creación de tendencias artístico-musicales durante todo el año.

Los cursos, impartidos por profesionales de trayectoria reconocida, se empezarán el próximo mes de Diciembre. Aquí os los desgranamos brevemente:

Electronic Live Production: De un tiempo a esta parte viene siendo habitual que tanto Dj´s como productores utilicen como recurso la improvisación en directo con laptops y secuenciadores. En el curso, impartido por Lenny ibizarre y Javier Ferrer, se enseñarán técnicas y trucos para la performance en directo de producciones de música electrónica.

Armonía para DJ´s y productores: Jacob Mariscal y Adolfo Vilallonga, dos reputados musicólogos y compositores ibicencos, impartirán este curso que fomenta la aplicación de las técnicas básicas de la armonía aplicadas a las nuevas herramientas de producción musical. Un paso más para la depuración de la técnica de los productores y dj´s electrónicos.
Apple Music Applications: Apple es, desde hace años, la empresa de hardware favorita de los productores de música electrónica. Desde las computadoras más potentes como Imac o MacBook hasta el Iphone pasando por uno de sus más innovadores productos: el Ipad.

Un clásico de la escena madrileña , Luis Cantalapiedra ( o sea Dj Muerto), demostrará como usar esta potente tablet como instrumento, controlador MIDI o secuenciador.

Síntesis Modular: La síntesis modular ya no depende de cables y sintetizadores gigantes. Gracias a softwares como Reaktor los alumnos aprenderán a sintetizar sonidos manipulando envolventes, filtros o LFO´s. Un curso que ofrece a los alumnos llegar al tuétano del sonido y conocer así el origen primitivo de las producciones.

Para quien no lo sepa, el Ibiza Music Cluster es una asociación de empresas de la industria musical de Ibiza con el objetivo de mejorar en competitividad, innovación y creatividad y la Academia es un paso adelante en pos de ese objetivo.

« At 9.30pm on November 23rd 1991 I played the first ever record at back to basics club in Leeds, UK. I had no idea it was going to last to be possibly the longest running weekly house music club in the world. Over the coming months I will be mixing my favourite musical memories from the club exclusively for this blog and hoping to build the definitive story of the club through features on the key players and characters as well as hopefully comments and content from yourselves. »

To celebrate this special birthday, Ralph built and put online an exclusive blog devoted to his huge Dj career. Best know as the original resident Dj at the egendary Back To Basics in Leeds, Ralph Lawson has played a pioneering role in electronic underground dance music for the past two decades. Lawson is widely regarded as being one the very best House DJs in the world. He currently holds residencies at Back To Basics Leeds, We Love Space Ibiza and Barcelona’s The Loft as well as regular appearances at Berlin’s Watergate and London’s Fabric.

Always unique, his style has developed over the years to become what is know worldwide as the 2020sound, giving reference to the label he created in 1995 in a country farm which has also gone on to be one of the very best electronic music labels in the world.

« The studio was set up in Hopefield Farm in Rothwell, just south of Leeds. I moved there with Carl Finlow and Fraser Brydson. I’d just lost my girlfriend so I was at a loose end. I picked up a copy of the Yorkshire Post and the first thing I saw was, “Farmhouse for rent, £400 per month”. I thought - no neighbours, it’s going to be an ideal place for a studio. »

And, actually it was. This country farm became quickly a creative cell for Ralph and his team. Is in this same house that was born the project of 2020Vision and 2020Soundsystem, a new way of playing, mixing live instruments with electronic Music imagined by Ralph Lawson and his friend Danny D Ward. 2020Soundsystem transformed the clubbing experience into something new by giving the best of both worlds: the continuity and diversity of a DJ mix with the raw energy and excitement of seeing a live band.

 “The 2020Soundsystem has its origins in a request from Fat City Records in Manchester to make a mix for their 'Stars on 33' series. I was totally bored of everything at the time and wanted to try something different. I wanted to mix records from 1979-1999 and many weren't done on computers so you couldn't beat match them. I wanted to find a new way to mix them. I spoke about it with Danny 'Dubble D' Ward and he suggested that he played kit over the records and handled any changes in tempo and then made our own 'breaks' coming out of the tracks. I would then mix the next record into the drums that were now tight. Basically the idea worked and I still love the mix we achieved. We left the idea for a while but I became obsessed with putting a band together. It had been a dream since my teenage years and became an itch I still felt I needed to scratch. So when I was sent a demo by two Argentineans called Silver City (Fernando Pulichino and Julian Sanza) that featured live bass and keyboards I put 2 and 2 together and we made 4. Our first gig was at BRB in Leeds in 2003. It was more of a jam over my records as we didn't have any songs. Over time we started to get our own hooks and those then became the basis of original tracks”.

Very ecclectic movement, 2020Vision also became 2020Vision Show, a radio reference for all the electronic music lovers.

Hosted by Ibiza Sonica, 2020Vision is one special hour set every monday and to celebrate 20 years of Basics, Ralph Lawson made a serie of 4 special sets to make you dance all december long.

Live Broadcast desde GOA NAKED XVII Anniversario / Domingo 4 de Diciembre

El próximo domingo 4 de diciembre en Goa Electronic Parties estamos de celebración por todo lo alto, pues será una fecha de lo más señalada, nada más y nada menos que nuestro 17º aniversario! A puntito de cumplir la mayoría de edad, desde Goa Electronic Parties hemos confeccionado un cartel a la altura de una efeméride tan especial, con la presencia de algunos de los mejores deejays y productores, ya no sólo de la actualidad, sino de la historia de la música electrónica de baile. Y la temática escogida para tan soberbio encuentro es “Naked”. Ahora que en Goa Electronic Parties casi hemos cumplido casi los 18 años, ya es hora de empezar a disfrutar con la visión de cuerpos desnudos, del vodevil despojado de toda ropa, de los stripteases más morbosos y excitantes, y de las espectaculares proyecciones de luz y color que se verán reflejadas en los muy desnudos cuerpos de nuestras bellas invitadas. Un impactante espectáculo que dará que hablar y sobretodo, que mirar.

Y como los cumpleaños se deben celebrar como lo que son, una celebración de la vida, el cartel de nuestro 17º aniversario es una auténtica delicia para los sentidos, con todos los espectros de la música electrónica cubiertos por todos sus flancos. Empecemos.

En la Main Room, además de nuestros residentes Marcos Indub y Gerardo Niva, gozaremos de la presencia del gran Henrik Schwarz, quien nos traerá un set de lo más potente y bailongo, dejando a un lado su faceta más experimental y jazzy, y el proyecto LBS de Laurent Garnier acompañado por Scan X y Benjamin Rippert, triunvirato que nos brindarán uno de los mejores directos de techno que se pueden escuchar hoy en día en clubland.

En el Crystal Club tendremos a uno de los sellos que más gustan en Goa Electronic Parties además de ser uno de los colectivos que más y mejor house nos llevan sirviendo desde hace unos cuantos años, Innervisions. Elegancia, clase, atemporalidad sonora…y con Pablo Sánchez, el directo del dúo Âme, y las sesiones a los platos de dos de sus pichichis, Dixon y Henrik Schwarz, que se apunta por partida doble a nuestro aniversario.

El sello Bass Culture, uno de los más emergentes surgidos en los últimos tiempos en Francia, también estará presente en nuestro aniversario. Sushowcase tendrá lugar en el Upper Floor y tendrá como protagonistas a D’Julz –capo del label y habitual de Goa Electronic Parties-, Arnaud Le Texier, Kasper y Alex Picone.

Y, para finalizar el cartel de Goa Naked, la buena gente del club Araña se apunta también para traernos lo mejor del dubstep y la bass music del momento con Tony Karate, The Warriors, Benvinda, y uno de los pioneros (y genios) del dubstep, la bestia parda de Croydon (Londres),Benga.

With just days to go, Above & Beyond's landmark #TATW400 show is again primed to be the biggest event on the Anjunabeats bosses' calendar.

Taking place at the famed Forum De Beyrouth in the pearl of the Middle East, Beirut, Lebanon, #TATW400 will unite some of the biggest names in trance and progressive - Gareth Emery, Kyau & Albert, Mat Zo and Jaytech.

RED BULL Music Academy : The Shape Of Music To Come

Es difícil que lo comprendáis. De antemano ya aviso. Entender la verdadera dimensión de la Red Bull Music Academy supone conocerla desde dentro, visitarla, participar de ella, y aún así es posible que se te escapen detalles y sensaciones. Por mucho que uno de los alumnos se esfuerce en explicar toda la experiencia que supone la Academia nunca logrará que su interlocutor la conciba realmente. Aunque probablemente lo que si consiga transmitir es su completa fascinación por lo vivido.

Para los no iniciados os pongo en situación. La Red Bull Music Academy es un proyecto que nació en 1998 y que cada año y medio (aproximadamente) se celebra en una ciudad del mundo: Seattle, Toronto, Roma, Ciudad del Cabo, Sao Paulo, Londres, Barcelona.... En ella, 40 músicos, productores o dj´s, repartidos en dos tandas, seleccionados de manera exhaustiva y muy particular por la dirección, recibe un viaje inspirador por el mundo de la creación musical. Conferencias de artistas de primer nivel que explican su experiencia a los “novatos”, estudios de ensayo donde practicar con toda la clase de cacharrería (sintes, cajas de ritmo, instrumentos, efectos, secuenciadores, controladores midi....) que los afortunados tienen a su disposición en un almacén, un estudio de grabación espectacular donde plasmar sus creaciones y muchos bolos en la ciudad . Todo ello a gastos pagados, con un runner que les lleva y les trae al hotel en todo momento y con un maravilloso comedor donde reponen fuerzas en un catering fino.

Un lugar donde talentosos jóvenes de todas partes del mundo conviven junto a profesores como Mark Pritchard, Benji B, Marco Passarani o James Pants y con invitados de excepción de diversa índole como la diva del nu soul, Erikah Badu, el creador de Chic Nile Rodgers, el productor Andrew Weatheral, RZA, miembro de los seminales Wu Tang Clan, uno de los creadores del Chicago house, Frankie Knuckles o el genio del tropicalismo Tom Ze. Y no solo hay viejas glorias, también hay ejemplos inspiradores en jóvenes talentos que se han abierto paso en los últimos años: Scuba, Daniel Lopatin, John Talabot o Matias Aguayo . En la Academia se desayuna, come y cena música. O mejor, amor por la música.

Por si fuera poco, después de la actividad diurna queda la nocturna. Los alumnos comparten cartel en las diferentes actividades y eventos temáticos que organiza la RBMA. Desde una noche tropical donde Tom Ze, El Guincho, Sr Coconut, Mathew Johnson desplegaron frescura y sensualidad, una experiencia en el Reina Sofia con uno de los precursores de la electrónica, Morton Subotnick, un recorrido por las influencias y las canciones sampleadas por RZA para sus Wu Tang o una noche al más puro estilo underground londinense con Scuba, Pearson Sound y el talentoso alumno de la Academy XXXY

3 años después de trabajar en la edición de 2008 en Barcelona he tenido la oportunidad de volver como visitante y de compartir la vida en la academía durante cuatro días. He sido consciente de lo afortunado que fui al poder vivirla desde dentro. ¿Una experiencia increible, verdad? El sueño de cualquier músico... Pues bien, aunque os lo imaginéis aún os quedáis cortos. Así que si estáis en Madrid y tenéis la oportunidad de visitar la Academy o ir a alguno de sus eventos hacedlo, aunque ya solo quedan unos pocos días. Por otro lado si queréis comprobar los resultados de la academia podéis ir al escenario auspiciado por la RBMA en el festival de electrónica más importante del mundo, el Sónar. Music For Swimming Pool by Pete HERBERT arrives on Radio ES VIVE and Ibiza Sonica

Pete HERBERT, one time proprietor of the infamous Atlas Records emporium in London back in the mid 90's, Pete spends his time these days releasing music as Reverso 68 and Frontera with Phil Mison, also LSB, Challenge and his own solo material on labesl such as Maxi Discs, and Disco Deviance as well as clocking up a remix discography as long as your arm. He currently resides in the sunny east end of London, and dj's around the globe of a weekend...

REVERSO 68 is the studio based project of producer/djs Pete Herbert and Phil Mison. The two met many moons ago whilst Phil was a resident at the Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza and bought records from Pete who was running record shops in Soho, London at the time, just before he opened the infamous Atlas Records vinyl emporium. As well as djing extensively around the globe for the last decade and more recently working together ... (the duo have also recorded an album as Frontera for Music for Dreams out in Spring 2006) They have also both recorded and released their own projects, Phil as Cantoma with Music For Dreams, and Pete as Bakazou and as part of LSB and Optimus for Eskimo Recordings and their offshoot Suicide and as Cuica for Ubiquity Records,California.

The REVERSO 68 sound could be descibed as a deep mix of Balearic disco and spaced out,melodic electronics made with the dancefloor in mind but definately a listening pleasure for all occasions.

In 2009, Pete released the first Music For Swimming Pools ep on Redux which came on ultra ltd edition blue vinyl and is now a bit of a collectors piece.

When not in the studio Pete can be found regularly behind the decks at Fabric, Ministry Of Sound, Horse and Groom in his native London and other forward thinking clubs around Europe and has recently been in Australia, Indonesia, Brazil, China, India, Russia, Croatia, Lithuania, Paris, Ibiza,Tel Aviv and beyond…

COMPOST it’s a german eclectic label from Munich, founded in 1994 by Michael Reinboth, Dj since 1980, music journalist and event organizer.

Gilles PETERSON, Dj and musical journalist on BBC, Radio 1 and creator of the international music session WorldWide, interviewed the Compost Records founder Michael Reinboth and DJ Thomas Herb of Compost Black Label about what makes a good DJ, why they're into dance music and why they both don't own an iPod...

Thomas Herb, the Munich-based DJ and Producer, is no rookie. This DJ has been sharing his talents with us since 1996; establishing a residency in his hometown in 1999 at the seminal Friday night event "Flokat", held in club legends Ultraschall and later in Harry Klein. Currently, Thomas Herb ist the resident DJ of the massively in demand monthly club night "Compost Blacklabel Sessions" held at Bob Beaman.

Thomas takes his main inspiration from US-Garage House. Classic tunes like Hard Drive’s "Deep Inside" will probably never leave his recordcase. However he’s far from one-dimesional. Deep, quality tracks, touching his musical senses will always be given airtime by Thomas Herb. His DJing is not constrained by any genre boundaries – it’s spontaneous and the result, the essence of his sets, is a versatile blend of true House Music.

Awarded as the best newcomer at the Italian Music Conference 2001 (Riccione), Herb can always be found performing at selected spots outside his hometown where he is ever in demand: Cookies (Berlin), Tape (Berlin), Meierei (Wien), Màd (Geneva), Pascia / Echoes (Riccione), Tunnel (Milan) - are just a few selected examples. Over the years Thomas Herb has performed alongside artists like Tony Humphries, Joris Voorn, Karizma, Heidi, Dixon, Ame, Deetron, I:Cube, Soundstream or Osunlade, gaining invaluable experience and inspiration.

Combining his mixing talent with a instinctive awareness for the perfect tune at the right time, the music of Thomas Herb is a vital ingredient in your club night.

What do molecular cooking and modern music have in common?

Both venture the realms of the avant-garde, without loosing the prosaic outlook on life, art and good taste, while inelegant junkies for Bavarian leberkäs, Jamba subscribers and Starsearch-kiddies wallow in the insufferable boringness of mediocrity. Shallowness, ordinarity and a simple sensation of contentment do not mix well with higher forms of artistic communication.

SHOW-B is taking on the challenge, and is making a triumphal procession through the heaven of arrangements and the musically modernistic housemusic. With his background as a DJ, his music is not always only dance-oriented, it is definitely treading in its own new paths.

Complex, but fleet-footed, his rhythmic structures produce a soulful symbiosis with the music of long-gone times of dance music. Traditional elements, such as Flutes or Rhodes unite with sub basses, crisp kick drums and detriotesque bass lines, culminating in SHOW-B’s own definition of Housemusic.

BERLIN MUSIC DAYS / Fly Bermuda Festival / November 2nd to 5th

Following hot on the electronic heels of October’s Amsterdam Dance Event, the clubbing community will shift focus this November to dance capital of the world, Berlin. For its third consecutive year running, independent dance fest BerMuDa / Berlin Music Days will feature a comprehensive and eclectic smorgasbord of exhibitions, workshops, panels and parties to nourish the hungry movers, shakers and ravers of the dance industry over four fun-filled days.

BerMuDa was created by the originators of the worldwide renowned Watergate Club. Steffen Hack, Ulrich Wombacher and Niklas Eichstädt thought it was time to establish an authentic festival for electronic music which originated from Berlin’s clubs.
The city isn’t crowned as the world capital of electronic music for nothing and nowhere else can you find so many artists, booking agencies, clubs and labels from this genre. These favourable factors should also be utilized to preserve and further establish Berlin’s economic standpoint for music so that its cultural landscape can flourish.

After a successful start in 2009 the unique electronic music club-festival Berlin Music Days-short BerMuDa- will attract thousands of clubbers, ravers, musicians, label managers and artists from all over the world this year. In 2010 around 50.000 people came to the city to experience the 40 different locations with over 100 DJs, live-acts and a stack of daily events.

The Berlin Music Days is clearly positioned as an independent Festival and is based on three pillars ;

During the day the BerMuDays offer a comprehensive programme that includes workshops, panels, lectures, exhibitions and fashion events around electronic music and its associated culture.

At nights the BerMuNights rules the city's dance floors. Night owls and music enthusiasts won’t go home disappointed with all the label nights, showcases and top-notch party events in Berlin’s hottest clubs and locations.

She’s just created ITEMS AND THINGS her own label with her two friends and djs Marc Houle and Troy Pierce :

The futures months see her continuing to expand her sound, as she takes roots in her Berlin studio to work on her forthcoming 2012 album project.

There has grown a culture around electronic music that is unparalleled in the world. That is what Berlin musically stands for and that is what the Fly BerMuDa Festival is all about.”

Gilles PETERSON invite Louie VEGA on his second date of
his "HAVANA CULTURA" European tour.

After strarting out on a radio pirate, and having shows on various legal London-based radio stations, most noticeably including KISS FM, he was recruited to the BBC’s youth-oriented Radio 1 where he’s presenting his Radio Show since 1998.

Widely acclaimed as musical tastemaker, he spreads his influence on msic listenners around the world through his Worlwide (BBC Radio 1) which is also broadcast live on the Radio 1 website and available for audio streaming online.

He also does another international version of the show which get syndicated to radio stations all over the world, such as Radio Nova in Paris, France and of course, Ibiza Sonica where you can listen his Worldwide every Thursday from 11H to 13H on Seekoo Web Radio.

Gilles Peterson even created athe WORLDWIDE FESTIVAL which happens every year in Sète, south of France since 2006. We already know the dates of the next one from july 2nd to 8th…

On August 22th, he actually just released his latest Worldwide Vol 5. A 3 CD compilation called Masterpiece.

Many currents events for the London Dj and record collector who’s is preparing the european tour of his musical project launched in 2009 when a french friend of him, François René propose to Gilles to go in Havana to check out the new generation of artist like he had done before in Brasil and Africa.

He came back with a new EP recorded in the legendary Havana studio EGREM and released « Havana Cultura : New Cuba Sound » on October 27th 2009, first volume of this cuban adventure.

«The thing about Cuba is people know Cuba now for Buenavista Social Club musically, and it’s almost like the people who go to Brazil and expect to hear « The Girl from Ipanema » everywhere. There’s a real good underground scen there and that’s really what I was going to go and do… Sort of Wake up and try ans expose. I went over there and I just discovered all thèse amazing people making music, really different than what we’re used to, because ther’s very little internet, mix are gold-dust. Music is the force there and I came with gifts.»

On November 14th will be released the second volume of « HAVANA CULTURA » a double album called « HAVANA CULTURA : The search continues ». 1 CD of recorded tracks and a second one of remixes.

PITCHFORK Music Festival in Paris / Oct 28 & 29

The Pitchfork story began in 2006, when Ryan Shreiber, Young american from minneapolis, saw in internet an important potential to deliver his ideas about music, independent music.

«The reviews I was reading at the time lacked strong opinions. They were all pretty much reverent. And I thought: 'Where's the honesty?' I knew that if I listened to 100 records I was going to dislike at least 20 of them. Also, a lot of the music that was getting popular at that time was second-wave Nirvana, such as Filter and the Deftones. I didn't feel it was independent music. It didn't come from independent labels.»

Just graduate and very disappointed about what he could read about music on the web, he decided to found his own online fanzine : Pitchfork, where he could share his own musical reviews. He started to recrute some new writers, paid with CD promos, and the Pitchfork Machine started slowly to grow up. For giving you an idea, today, Pitchfork has around of 50 Freelance writer worldwide and 20 full-time staff, based in New York and Chicago.

Ryan Shreiber was nominated in 2009 to appear in the TIME Magazine Top 100.

The main idea of Pitchfork, was to talk about indie music, the music that you don’t listen in radio or TV. Critized so many time for their Frankness, The Pitchfork team didn’t give up and decided to go forward, creating an Independent musical event in Chicago.

In 2006, the first Pitchfork Music Festival took place in july in the union park in Chicago and bring not less than 35,000 visitors to listen 41 bands including the electronic Producers Diplo and Matthew Dear.

For the first time of Pitchfork History, the festival leave Chicago to come install itself in Paris, for the first foreign Pitchfork edition.

The idea seems succesfull, the tickets were already sold out two weeks ago.

Organized by Pitchfork media and the french event and musical agency Super!, the parisian edition of Pitchfork will take place in La Grande Halle De La Villette, the biggest concert hall of the city on October Friday 28 and Saturday 29.

Germany's Hendrick Weber has been releasing tracks under the name Pantha du Prince since the early 2000s. After releasing two minimal-inspired house albums (Diamond Daze and This Bliss) Weber extended his craft while remaining true to his original vision with his 2010 release,Black Noise. With a sound as gritty as it is chaotic, Black Noise enlisted the help of Noah Lennox (Panda Bear of Animal Collective) for "Stick to My Side" and Tyler Pope of LCD Soundsystem and !!! for "The Splendour".

Erol Alkan got his start in the London DJ scene in the early 2000s as the house DJ for Trash nightclub. With a sound that blurs together elements of electronic, dance, and industrial, Alkan soon found himself playing for some of world's top nightclubs. He has since spent time remixing tracks for Bloc Party, Hot Chip, and Daft Punk and made this tremendous remix of the Connan Mockasin song « Forever Doplhin Love ».

Erol Alkan will be Madrid on Sunday, to storm the Halloween GOA Electronic Sunday.

After enjoying an musical and animated summer in the White island. It’s time for the electronic music addicts to move in Amsterdam where from yesterday, is currently hapenning the 16th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event festival untill Sunday.

With over 700 artists from all over the globe performing in 52 clubs, ADE’s festival has grown into the worlds biggest club festival for electronic music. Amsterdam Dance Event, It’ offer at 3.000 business professionals and 130.000 music lovers a taste of the latest trends and developments in the electronic music scene.

Over its fifteen years of existence, ADE’s conference program has come to be recognised as the most important of its kind, making it the ultimate platform for critical dialogue and debate in the field of electronic music. The aim of ADE’s daytime activities is to provide the international electronic music industry with an extensive and all-embracing platform to do business, exchange knowledge and keep up to date on the latest developments and trends of the rapidly evolving global music industry.

“How the music creators and consumers adapt themself at the internet media evolution?”, “How distance oneself from all the web jungle to draw the people attention on your production ?” are some of the subjects with which started yesterday the ADE day conferences.
